SHRA Mission

To serve HR professionals, business owners, students, and our community by providing professional & relevant resources, networking and educational opportunities to help them achieve awareness & up-to-date knowledge on relevant local, regional, state and federal human resource and business topics.

By doing this, we will achieve healthy growth driven by community awareness and member participation at our monthly meetings, community events and professional presentations.

SHRA AND THE LAKE TAHOE COMMUNITY

Our community has a great variety of businesses of all sizes from large employers like Tahoe Forest Hospital or Northstar (hotels, resorts, ski areas, casinos) to small businesses including many restaurants, retail shops, agencies, and companies that serve Tahoe Truckee. Many do not have the internal support structure of a human resources department.

SHRA is a community organization that provides HR professionals, managers and business owners the opportunity to network and discuss management practices and business issues that affect employees and our livelihood.

At our monthly meetings we discuss strategic and compliance related HR issues and offer relevant updates and tips during our “Economy Watch” segment. SHRA also sponsors workshops to develop managers and leaders as well as the local workforce to provide great service to locals and visitors.

This past December, SHRA hosted 400 international employees representing six local resorts at three information filled orientations at Northstar, Squaw Valley, and Kings Beach. The students from South America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand and learned about American cultural differences, the Tahoe-Truckee lifestyle and employment expectations in our service-based economy.

During the winter season we present a revolving series of management workshops such as Legal Landmines: Top Ten Employment Laws Managers Need to Know, You are in the Hot Seat – the Revolving Door of Employee Relations Issues, and Coaching with Care – When You See It Say It.

The Tahoe Truckee lifestyle is enhanced by having great places to work and learn. Please join us at one of our meetings and bring your managers and supervisors to our workshops.
